The Cabinet announced the volume of water in the Toktogul Reservoir as of today

Today, Deputy Prime Minister Bakyt Torobaev held a meeting with the heads of state bodies and authorized representatives of the president in the regions. The press service of the cabinet reported on the progress of the meeting.

During the meeting, aspects of preparation for the autumn-winter period of 2025-2026 were discussed, including information from the Ministry of Energy.

According to the ministry, electricity consumption in the republic continues to increase. In 2024, it amounted to 19.3 billion kilowatt-hours, which is 900 million more than the previous year. Of this volume, 15.4 billion kilowatt-hours were produced domestically, while 3.9 billion were imported. This year, a decrease in water inflow to reservoirs has been observed.
As of today, the water level in the Toktogul Reservoir is 9.102 billion cubic meters, which is 1.631 billion less than in the same period of 2025," the message specifies.

In this regard, experts warn of a possible water shortage, which could negatively affect electricity generation. The necessity of strict adherence to electricity consumption limits was also emphasized; however, as practice shows, this rule is not always followed.

Regarding coal reserves, the republic needs to prepare 3 million 174,792 thousand tons of coal for a successful heating season, and there are sufficient reserves available. The heat power plants in Bishkek and Osh also have the necessary reserves of coal and fuel oil.

Following the meeting, Bakyt Torobaev instructed the heads of institutions to work in an enhanced mode during the heating season. He noted the importance of uninterrupted fuel supply to the population and key facilities, as well as stable electricity and heat supply, calling for readiness for possible changes in weather conditions in the near future.
