In 2025, the U.S. State Department revoked over 100,000 visas
According to the press service of the State Department, this measure was taken as part of efforts to strengthen the country's security, and similar actions are planned to continue.
Newsweek reports that the number of canceled visas in 2025 exceeded the figures of the previous year by more than twice. In 2024, when Joe Biden was the President of the United States, such cases were significantly fewer. The State Department noted that these measures are part of a broader strategy to control the entry of foreign nationals and ensure national security.
The cancellation of visas and subsequent deportations are a result of the immigration policy of the Donald Trump administration. This policy restricted entry for citizens from 12 countries, and additional measures were introduced for seven other states, including Afghanistan, Haiti, Iran, and Yemen.
Furthermore, in 2026, the Trump administration significantly reduced the refugee admission quota from 125,000 to 7,500 people, marking the lowest level in the history of this program.
It is also worth noting that the American administration plans to repurpose industrial warehouses in several states to create centers for the detention of illegal migrants in order to expedite their deportation.
