Fariza Soltogulova, the chief specialist of the Department of School, Extracurricular, and Additional Education of the Ministry of Education, reported that the academic process lasts 34 weeks, and the number of vacation days totals 30. This academic year, the vacation schedule has been approved in accordance with the requirements of the new Labor Code.
According to her data, the academic year begins on September 1 and ends on May 25. During this period, teachers are required to fulfill the calendar-thematic plan, as their work is subject to verification by the relevant authorities.
Parents expressed a request to extend the duration of the spring break. However, if it were extended, it could reduce the number of school days and negatively affect teachers' salaries.
As a result, it was decided to extend the break by four days, which will be moved to the period from May 25 to May 29. Thus, teachers' salaries remained unchanged, and parents' requests were taken into account while respecting the rights of educators," she added.

Soltogulova explained that this year the spring break was rescheduled so that it would not coincide with the celebration of Nowruz. According to her, students were supposed to rest for three days – March 6, 7, and 8, as well as one day in March for Orozo Ait and Nowruz, which would total five days. However, due to the large time gap between these days, it caused dissatisfaction among parents.
"Many parents note that children traditionally had a break on March 21, the day of the Nowruz celebration. Due to the addition of breaks in May, the spring vacation was slightly moved forward so that the periods of rest do not come too close to each other," she emphasized.

As a result, there are 30 days allocated for four periods of vacation, including both working and non-working days.
Despite the increase in the number of days off, the duration of study remains the same at 34 weeks," the specialist added.

Psychologist Aizhamal Isamidinova shared her opinion with the Kabar agency on the importance of additional rest for schoolchildren.
She noted that extended breaks serve not only as additional motivation but also as a necessary means for recovering strength after an intensive study period. Short breaks often do not allow children to fully rest, which can negatively affect their academic activity and emotional state.
“Increasing the breaks promotes communication with family and active rest, which is extremely important for the psycho-emotional development of children. Additional days help reduce stress and anxiety levels, strengthen emotional health, and improve concentration when returning to studies,” she concluded.
