In Kyrgyzstan, spring break has been extended. A psychologist explained the benefits for children

The Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic has decided to extend the spring break, which has come as a pleasant surprise for parents and students. The vacation period will now last from March 2 to March 7, 2026, which is four days longer compared to the previous dates (March 6–8).

At the same time, the ministry informed that to compensate for the additional days off, four school days will be made up in May. The end of the 2025–2026 academic year has been moved from May 25 to May 29, 2026, and the ceremonial line-up for the "Last Bell" will take place on May 29.

Why do children need extra time off

To understand the importance of the extended break, the "Kabar" agency sought the opinion of psychologist Aijamal Isamidinova.

The psychologist noted that additional days off not only increase motivation but also help children recover their strength after a tense learning process. Short breaks often do not allow children to fully rest, and accumulated stress can negatively affect both their academic motivation and emotional state.

“The extension of the break creates conditions for rest, communication with loved ones, and active leisure, which is critically important for the psycho-emotional growth of children. Additional days off help reduce anxiety and stress, strengthen emotional health, and improve concentration when returning to studies,” the specialist explained.
Aijamal Isamidinova also emphasized that moving the date of the "Last Bell" to May 29 gives students more time to prepare for this important event, which contributes to better organization of the celebration and reduces stress levels before exams.

How the educational process will be organized

The Ministry of Education clarified that the missed school days will be integrated into the class schedule in May, allowing the full curriculum for the 2025–2026 academic year to be completed. Thus, the educational process will not be disrupted, and students will receive additional days for rest without harming their academic performance.

The extension of the spring break emphasizes that the education system focuses not only on academic achievements but also on the psycho-emotional health of children, as well as the significance of symbolic events that unite students, parents, and educators.
