
During the meeting held on February 4 at the Ministry of Natural Resources, Ecology, and Technical Supervision of the Kyrgyz Republic, participants discussed important aspects of cooperation with the World Bank. The event was attended by Sameh Naguib Wahba, the regional director of the bank for sustainable development in Europe and Central Asia.
According to information from the ministry, the discussion focused on strategic interaction and prospects for expanding partnership in sustainable development between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank.
Key issues included improving air quality in the atmosphere, enhancing climate resilience, and implementing the "Air Quality Improvement in Kyrgyzstan" program supported by the World Bank. Ways to strengthen cooperation in the Mountain Agenda were also discussed.
Minister Meder Mashiev emphasized the importance of the World Bank's support in implementing key national initiatives aimed at adapting to climate change, reducing environmental risks, and applying modern environmental technologies. He also noted that the ministry is actively working on preparing a climate activity law that will help create legal and economic conditions for low-carbon and sustainable growth in the country.
At the end of the meeting, Sameh Naguib Wahba thanked the participants for their warm welcome and constructive approach to discussing the next steps of cooperation.
