The Ministry of Natural Resources and the World Bank Discussed Cooperation in the Field of Sustainable Development

On February 4, a meeting took place at the Ministry of Natural Resources between Minister Medera Mashiev and Sameh Naguib Wahba, the Regional Director of the World Bank for Sustainable Development in Europe and Central Asia.

The press service of the ministry reported that during the meeting, key aspects of strategic partnership and prospects for deepening cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank in the field of sustainable development were discussed.

During the discussions, emphasis was placed on important issues such as improving air quality, enhancing resilience to climate change, and implementing the "Improving Air Quality in the Kyrgyz Republic" initiative funded by the World Bank. The parties also explored ways to strengthen cooperation in promoting the Mountain Agenda.

Minister Mashiev emphasized that the Ministry of Natural Resources is actively working on creating a draft law on climate activities, which will help implement legal and economic mechanisms that facilitate the country's transition to low-carbon and sustainable development.
