Storm Warning: A Sharp Drop in Temperature Expected in Kyrgyzstan from January 17 to 19

According to Kyrgyzhydromet, significant changes in weather conditions are expected in the country on January 16 during the day and on January 17: there will be precipitation in the form of snow in some areas, as well as intense precipitation in certain regions. Wet snow is expected to accumulate on wires and trees, along with the appearance of fog. Snow drifts and ice patches may form on road surfaces, especially in mountainous areas where snow drifts are forecasted. The western wind may strengthen to 15-20 m/s in some places.

From January 17 to 19, a significant drop in temperature is expected: in the Chui and Talas valleys, nighttime temperatures may drop to -9...-14°C, and during the day to -1...-6°C. In the valleys of the Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions, nighttime temperatures will range from -2 to -7°C, and during the day from -2°C to +3°C. In the foothills, nighttime temperatures will fall to -11...-16°C, while during the day they will be -2...-7°C. In the Issyk-Kul basin, nighttime temperatures are expected to be -7...-12°C, and during the day temperatures may reach -4°C to +1°C. In the Naryn region and mountainous areas, nighttime temperatures will be between -23...-28°C, and during the day -9...-14°C. In high-altitude areas, temperatures may drop to -26...-31°C at night and -9...-14°C during the day; in the Suusamyr valley, nighttime temperatures will be -30...-35°C, and during the day -11...-16°C.

Severe weather conditions may negatively affect the operations of communication services, energy supply, and utility companies. In heavy precipitation, visibility on the roads will worsen, creating difficulties for transportation.
