A sharp change in weather is expected in Kyrgyzstan


In Kyrgyzstan, significant changes in meteorological conditions are expected on January 16 and 17: snowfall, with heavy precipitation in some areas.

According to the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations, wet snow is expected to accumulate on power lines and tree branches due to the precipitation. Fog is possible in some regions. Additionally, there is a high probability of snowdrifts in mountainous areas.

From January 17 to 19, a significant drop in temperature is also anticipated:

  • In the Chui and Talas valleys, nighttime temperatures will range from -9 to -14°C, and during the day from -1 to -6°;
  • In the Osh, Jalal-Abad, and Batken regions, nighttime temperatures are expected to be from -2 to -7°C, while daytime temperatures may reach from -2°C to +3°C; in the foothills, nighttime temperatures will drop to -11…-16°C, and during the day will be from -2 to -7°;
  • In the Issyk-Kul basin, nighttime temperatures will range from -7 to -12°C, and during the day from -4°C to +1°C;
  • In the Naryn region and mountainous areas, nighttime temperatures are expected to drop to -23…-28°C, with daytime temperatures ranging from -9…-14°C; in high-altitude areas, nighttime temperatures may fall to -26…-31°C, and during the day to -9…-14°;
  • In the Suusamyr valley, nighttime temperatures may reach -30…-35°C, with daytime temperatures expected to be -11…-16°C.
