
Employees of the State Committee for National Security (SCNS) detained a person in Istanbul suspected of having connections with the terrorist organization "Islamic State" and brought him to Kyrgyzstan.
According to the agency, the detainee turned out to be a citizen of Kyrgyzstan, T.M.Sh., originally from the Aravan district of the Osh region. He is accused of spreading extremist ideology among believers, as well as calling for the overthrow of the constitutional order and the establishment of a theocratic state in the form of a "caliphate".
In addition, the suspect was involved in recruiting citizens to participate in the conflict in the Middle East on the side of the terrorists and was developing plans to organize terrorist acts on the territory of Kyrgyzstan.
The detention took place in Istanbul, and on March 16, 2026, the suspect was extradited to Kyrgyzstan. The investigation is currently ongoing.
