In Bishkek, police officers detained a suspect who is apparently involved in several pickpocketing incidents on public transport, particularly on route No. 135.
A resident of Bishkek, known as Zh. I., reported to the Lenin District Department of Internal Affairs about the theft of her mobile phone. The incident occurred on February 5, when she boarded bus No. 135 near the Osh market and, after reaching Lavanovsky Street, noticed that her iPhone 16 Pro was missing.
In connection with this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Article 205 (Theft) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
As a result of operational measures, the police were able to detain A. A., who had previously had legal troubles and is registered as a pickpocket. He was placed in a temporary detention facility.
The court decided to keep the suspect in custody for two months.
The investigation revealed that the stolen phone was sold by the suspect at the Osh market. During searches at mobile device sales locations, the police seized more than 60 phones, including the one belonging to the complainant.
The police urge citizens to exercise caution in public places, on transport, and at markets, not to leave valuable items unattended, and in case of suspicious situations, to contact the nearest police stations or call 102.
