According to information from law enforcement officials, Nurgazy Anarkulov was detained on February 17 at the border of Kyrgyzstan. However, there are also alternative reports claiming that the detention took place in Istanbul, Turkey. It has also become known that a search was conducted at Anarkulov's home, after which he was placed in the temporary detention facility of the Main Internal Affairs Department of Bishkek. It should be reminded that in January 2021, Anarkulov, who held the position of head of the information policy department of the Office of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, was detained by the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) on suspicion of extorting a large bribe. According to the investigation, he used his official position to demand money from a candidate for a high government position in exchange for assistance in the appointment. He was later relieved of his position, and after some time, he was released, but information about the fate of the criminal case remains unknown.
