A suspect in a series of frauds has been detained in Karakol


In Karakol, law enforcement authorities have detained a man suspected of committing a series of fraudulent acts. This was reported by the press service of the Internal Affairs Department of the Issyk-Kul region.

It became known that the investigation began after a resident of Karakol, born in 1973, filed a complaint. She reported that an unknown person, posing as a buyer, deceitfully obtained a gold necklace from her daughter, valued at 112,500 soms, asking to borrow it "for a while," and then disappeared.

The statement was recorded in the information log of the Karakol City Police Department, after which a preliminary investigation was initiated. During the investigation, it was established that similar thefts had previously occurred:

On November 21, 2021, in a jewelry pavilion in Karakol, an unknown man of Asian appearance deceitfully took two gold bracelets from a minor saleswoman. The damage amounted to 40,000 soms.

On May 4, 2023, a resident of Karakol, born in 1979, reported that an unknown man had fraudulently obtained gold earrings worth 21,000 soms.

On January 12, 2026, a resident of the Ak-Suu district, born in 1995, reported that on December 31, 2025, an unknown person, having gained trust, received meat worth 11,600 soms and did not pay for it.

Criminal proceedings were initiated based on these facts under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic (fraud).

The suspect was detained on February 12, 2026, in Bishkek. He turned out to be a 1993-born resident of the city of Cholpon-Ata. The court has set his detention period to one month.

During the interrogation, the detainee admitted his guilt in all four episodes. Investigative actions are ongoing.
