The GKNB urged to refrain from statements that undermine trust in national security agencies.
It was noted in the statement that in light of the recent resignation of the head of the SCNS, there are attempts by several interested parties in the information space to undermine the reputation of national security agencies.
“The opinions and interpretations being spread are one-sided and aimed at diminishing citizens' trust in state institutions,” emphasized the SCNS.
Highlighting the importance of their work, the agency reminded that they operate in accordance with the Constitution and laws of the country, “guided by the principles of legality, objectivity, and accountability to society.”
“The priority of our work is to ensure the security of the state, protect the rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as counter terrorism, extremism, corruption, and other threats,” the agency added.
The SCNS expressed the opinion that any arising questions and doubts should be discussed within the legal framework, based on facts and verified information. “Attempts to undermine the reputation of state structures without a factual basis harm not only the specific agency but also the overall atmosphere of trust in society,” the statement said.
The agency called on representatives of the public, media, and high-ranking officials to refrain from harsh criticism of SCNS employees, who “carry out their official duties with high responsibility.”
“The work to ensure the security of the country will continue consistently and principled in the interests of the people and the state,” the press service assured.
