In a recent statement, the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic raised the issue of attempts by certain interested forces to undermine the reputation of the country's national security agencies. These actions have become particularly noticeable following the resignation of the head of the agency.
The agency noted that the opinions and interpretations being disseminated are one-sided and aimed at reducing citizens' trust in state institutions.
“Employees of the national security agencies are subordinate to the Supreme Commander-in-Chief of the Kyrgyz Republic,” the representatives of the State Committee for National Security stated.
Furthermore, the State Committee emphasized that their activities strictly comply with the Constitution and laws of the country, based on the principles of legality, objectivity, and accountability to society. The main task of the agency is to ensure national security, protect constitutional order, the rights and freedoms of citizens, as well as counter terrorism, extremism, corruption, and other threats.“We are confident that any arising questions and doubts should be resolved exclusively within the framework of the law, based on facts and verified information. Attempts to undermine the reputation of state institutions without providing evidence harm not only the specific agency but also the overall level of trust in society,” the State Committee added.
The special service called on the public, media, and high-ranking officials to refrain from harsh criticism of the employees of the State Committee for National Security of the Kyrgyz Republic, as they fulfill their obligations with high responsibility and integrity. The agency also assured that the work to ensure the country's security will continue consistently and fundamentally in the interests of the people and the state.
