The special services claim that Korba, who acted as the executor of the assassination, was operating on the orders of the Security Service of Ukraine (SBU). It is alleged that in 2025, Korba was recruited by Ukrainian special services with the support of Polish colleagues, underwent training at a shooting range in Kyiv, and was sent to Russia last August to monitor high-profile military personnel.
According to FSB data, the pistol intended for the assassination was retrieved from a cache organized by Ukrainian special services in the Moscow region. Korba was promised a reward of $30,000 for carrying out this assignment.
The assassination attempt on the general occurred on the morning of February 6, when the killer was waiting for him on the landing of a building on Volokolamsk Highway. He fired several shots at Alekseev, who sustained injuries to his limbs, abdomen, and chest, resulting in significant blood loss. The general was urgently taken to intensive care.
Earlier, Svetlana Petrenko, the official representative of the Investigative Committee, reported the initiation of a criminal case under articles related to attempted murder and illegal handling of weapons. The Moscow Prosecutor's Office has taken the investigation under special control.
