According to information from the press service of the Talas region's Internal Affairs Department, on February 5, 2026, M. T., born in 1998, contacted the Lenin District Internal Affairs Department in Bishkek. In her statement, she reported that on October 15, 2025, in the Bakai-Ata district, at the house where she lives, her husband, D. Zh., born in 1994, without any apparent reason, had a scandal, kicked her out of the house, and then doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. As a result, M. T. suffered serious burns; however, she concealed the incident for a long time and did not inform anyone about what happened.
According to local police, on the day of the incident—October 15, 2025—information was received at the Bakai-Ata district police department from a police officer about a fire that occurred in one of the houses in his area. The information was registered in the crime log.
During the initial investigation, witnesses were interviewed. They stated that when attempting to light the stove, the fire did not catch, after which flammable liquid was sprayed, which caused the ignition. As a result, both spouses sustained burns and were taken to intensive care; however, their serious condition did not allow for questioning.
Later, M. T. did not inform her relatives or law enforcement about the fact of domestic violence. A forensic medical examination was appointed for this case.
However, on February 5, 2026, M. T. again contacted law enforcement and stated that the incident was a case of domestic violence, claiming that her husband intentionally doused her with gasoline and set her on fire. In connection with the new circumstances, an additional investigation has been initiated.
A criminal case has been initiated under Article 130, Part 2, Clause 1 ("Causing serious harm to health") of the Criminal Code. The suspect, D. Zh., has been placed in a temporary detention facility.
Currently, the investigation into the case is ongoing.
