The escalation of the situation surrounding domestic violence in Kyrgyzstan continues to gain momentum.
Asel Azamatova, the ex-wife of deputy Eldar Sulaymanov, accuses him of regularly committing domestic violence.
According to the Bishkek City Police Department, Azamatova filed a statement requesting measures against Sulaymanov, claiming that he had been psychologically pressuring her for a long time and that physical violence had also occurred previously. An investigative check is currently underway, and a protection order has been issued.
Eldar Sulaymanov, commenting on the situation for Kaktus.media, noted that all accusations are one-sided and require legal assessment, referring to the presumption of innocence.

It is worth mentioning that in 2022, Azamatova had already approached Kaktus.media but then refused to publish. Now she has returned to the editorial office and explained that "last time I was just scared, but now I intend to see this through to the end."
Asel claims that her ex-husband beat her even during her pregnancy and blackmailed her with the children, creating unbearable living conditions.
"I admit that I was dependent on him, and it was not only a financial dependency but also an emotional one. I was pregnant with our third child, and leaving with three kids was very scary. I was afraid that I wouldn't be able to provide them with a decent life," Azamatova shared.
She noted that she now views the situation differently.
"I can provide my children with a middle-class lifestyle: a good school, kindergartens, and a quality childhood, but without conflicts between parents," Asel added.
Azamatova also emphasized that from her own experience, she understood how serious the problem of domestic violence is in the country and how difficult it is for women to find protection.
At the moment, she wants her ex-husband not to turn the children against her.
Eldar Sulaymanov, for his part, rejects all accusations, stating that he has never resorted to physical violence against his wife. He believes that what is happening is an attempt to create a false public opinion against the backdrop of the pressing issue of domestic violence.
According to him, he himself has sometimes become a target of aggression, and conflicts with Azamatova often occurred in public places, leading to police intervention. Sulaymanov added that the public and "moral responsibility" for such incidents often falls on him. He emphasized that he considers the accusations to be unfair and driven by emotional state after the divorce, urging society to refrain from hasty conclusions, as this situation pertains to personal family life.
