The criminal had previous convictions
A fraudster posing as an employee of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB) was arrested in Bishkek, according to information provided by the Main Internal Affairs Directorate (GUVD).
According to law enforcement, on December 19, 2025, a citizen named U.Z. approached them with a request to take action against the alleged GKNB employee. This person, having contacted him via WhatsApp, convinced him of his connection to the authorities and managed to seize 17 thousand dollars, promising to help free someone from detention.
As a result of this incident, a criminal case was initiated under Article 209 of the Criminal Code of Kyrgyzstan, concerning fraud.
During operational activities, A.T., born in 1988, was detained. He had previous convictions and had been on the international wanted list since 2022. He was placed in the temporary detention facility of the GUVD.
The GUVD strongly urges citizens to remain vigilant and not to trust individuals claiming to be law enforcement officers who demand money transfers via messengers or over the phone.
