In the Sokuluk district, a criminal investigation has been initiated regarding a case of torture, after an elderly woman, born in 1958, reported her son to the police. The press service of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Chui region reported that the incident occurred on January 3, 2026.
According to law enforcement, the woman stated that her son, while in a state of alcohol intoxication, repeatedly subjected her to both physical and psychological violence. Experts determined that the victim sustained minor injuries, which led to a temporary health disorder. In this regard, a criminal case has been opened under Article 138 (Torture) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The son, born in 1978, was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
Law enforcement agencies continue to conduct necessary investigative measures to ensure a comprehensive and impartial investigation of this case.
The Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the Chui region notes that cases of domestic violence are under close monitoring and receive appropriate legal assessment.
