A man accused of cruel treatment of his mother has been detained by police in the Chui region. This was reported by the Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui region.
On January 3, 2026, a woman born in 1958, known as Sh.L., approached the Sokuluk internal affairs authorities. She filed a complaint against her son, born in 1978, a citizen named Sh.A., citing regular instances of physical and psychological violence from him, especially when he was under the influence of alcohol.
The incident was recorded, and a forensic medical examination was appointed to determine the extent of the injuries inflicted on the mother. The experts' conclusion confirmed that Sh.L. sustained minor bodily injuries that led to a temporary health disorder.
In this regard, a criminal case was initiated under Article 138 (torture) of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic. Under Article 96 of the Criminal Procedure Code, the suspect Sh.A. was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.
Currently, necessary investigative measures are being conducted for a comprehensive and objective investigation of this criminal case. The investigation is ongoing.
The Main Department of Internal Affairs of the Chui region notes that cases of domestic violence are under strict control and are necessarily considered from a legal standpoint. According to the legislation of the Kyrgyz Republic, appropriate measures of responsibility are provided for physical and psychological violence in the family.
The police urge citizens not to remain silent about such cases and to seek help from law enforcement agencies. All reports are subject to mandatory registration and consideration.
