By order of Kamchybek Tashiev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers and Chairman of the GKNB, inspections of pawnshops in the city of Osh and neighboring districts have begun.
As part of a joint effort with the Southern Territorial Administration of the Financial Supervision Service and the State Tax Service, inspections concerning the activities of pawnshops are being conducted.
As a result of the initial inspections, cases of inflated interest rates exceeding legally established norms were discovered. Consequently, administrative measures were applied to the pawnshops.
More than 30 pawnshops have been sealed, and additional inspections have been scheduled, the results of which will be used for a legal assessment of their activities.
The GKNB is also carrying out operational actions to identify individuals engaged in usury. According to the agency, such individuals provide loans to the population under unfeasible conditions, appropriate pledged property, and generate significant income.
