Elderly City Resident Dies in Hit-and-Run: Driver Detained with the Help of Cameras

In Kyzyl-Kyia, a driver who hit a person was detained thanks to data from video cameras.

According to reports, the incident occurred on January 15, 2026, at around 01:20. The city internal affairs department of Kyzyl-Kyia received a report that a "Volkswagen Passat" car hit a person on Kulatov Street, opposite the "Altyn-Ordo" restaurant, and left the scene, abandoning the vehicle.

This information was recorded in the electronic log of the Internal Affairs Directorate of Kyzyl-Kyia on the same day, after which an investigation began. An operational group was dispatched to the scene for inspection.

During the investigation, it was found that at the 83rd kilometer of the Osh–Razakov road, a silver "Volkswagen Passat" traveling from east to west hit a 74-year-old resident of the city. Unfortunately, the victim died at the scene from the injuries sustained.

Employees of the Kyzyl-Kyia Internal Affairs Directorate conducted operational search activities, as a result of which the owner of the vehicle was identified. Using surveillance footage installed in the city, a 31-year-old resident of the Uch-Korgon rural district of Kadamjai, identified as J.B., was detained and handed over to the investigative authorities.

Currently, investigative actions regarding this case are ongoing.
