Driver fled after hit-and-run: Teenager fell into a coma

In the Batken region, law enforcement agencies detained a driver who hit a teenager and left the scene of the accident, the regional police department reported.

According to information received by the duty unit of the Kadamjai District Department of Internal Affairs on January 4, 2026, at around 21:35, an incident involving an unknown vehicle occurred on the Osh—Razakov highway, passing through the village of Kök-Talaa in the Maidan rural district. The vehicle struck a young man. The driver did not stop to provide assistance and fled the scene of the accident.

“This incident was registered at the Kadamjai District Department of Internal Affairs, after which a preliminary investigation began. According to the information gathered at the scene, a boy born in 2015, a resident of the village of Pum, was crossing the road from the south side to the north side at the 100th kilometer of the Osh—Razakov highway when he was hit by a vehicle of unknown make traveling at high speed,” the department clarified.

During the operational search activities conducted by community safety inspectors and criminal investigation officers, as well as using surveillance cameras, the identity of the suspect was established.

The suspect turned out to be a 30-year-old resident of the village of Chechme in the Birlik rural district of the Kadamjai region, known as T.Z. He was detained and placed in a temporary detention facility.

According to current information, the teenager is in a coma,” official sources report.

Investigative actions are ongoing.
