In Chuy Region, suspects in bride theft have been detained

Two men suspected of abducting a girl for the purpose of marriage have been detained in the Chui region, according to information provided by the press service of the Main Internal Affairs Directorate of the region.

The incident took place in the village of Kozhomkul (also known as Voenno-Antonovka) on the night of January 13, around 00:30. According to law enforcement agencies, a local resident was approached by her acquaintance and a friend, after which they forcibly placed her in a Honda Stepwgn car and drove away.

This act has been classified under Article 172 of the Criminal Code of the Kyrgyz Republic, concerning "the abduction of a person for the purpose of entering into marriage."

Police officers quickly conducted operations and soon detained the suspects: B.N., born in 2001, and Sh.N., born in 2002. Both young men have been placed in a temporary detention facility.

Currently, investigative actions regarding this case are ongoing.
