Kyrgyzstan and India Discussed Cooperation in Energy and the Implementation of CASA-1000

- At the Bharat Electricity Summit 2026, a meeting took place between the Minister of Energy Talaybek Ibraev and his Indian counterpart Manohar Lal.

According to the Ministry of Energy, during the discussion, the ministers reviewed the current state of the energy sectors of both countries and discussed opportunities for deepening cooperation in the areas of renewable energy sources, hydropower, the coal industry, modernization of energy infrastructure, and the training of specialists.

Kyrgyzstan is interested in studying India's experience in implementing large energy initiatives and introducing advanced technologies.

Discussing the CASA-1000 project, the parties emphasized the contribution of Indian companies to its implementation and highlighted the need for timely completion of this project.

Moreover, the participants of the meeting noted possible avenues for expanding cooperation with major Indian energy companies, such as NTPC Limited and NHPC Limited, in the context of investment projects in Kyrgyzstan.

As a result of the meeting, Kyrgyzstan invited the Indian delegation to participate in the meeting of the energy ministers of the member countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which will be held in June 2026 in Kyrgyzstan.
