In Kyrgyzstan, after the administrative-territorial reform, during which 34 cities and 230 rural areas were created, certain difficulties have arisen related to a shortage of personnel and increased workload on local workers. This was reported by Akim Keneshbekov, a leading specialist in the regional development policy department, on the radio.

As Keneshbekov noted, after the consolidation of areas, the number of employees was reduced, while the volume of work and the distances between populated areas significantly increased, making it difficult to fulfill official duties.

He also added that some of the problems are already being addressed. In particular, by the president's directive, the positions of deputy head of the rural administration and responsible secretary were separated in areas with a population of over 10,000 people.

Additionally, a decision has been made to introduce a new position of village elder in each populated area that has the status of a village.

An increase in salaries for local self-government employees is also expected. The relevant decisions are planned to be made based on the results of the first half of the year.

The issues that arose after the reform are being forwarded to the Cabinet of Ministers and relevant government agencies for further resolution, Keneshbekov added.
