The modernization of the hydro units at the Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Station is ongoing, according to a statement from the press service of the Ministry of Energy.

As part of the initiative by the Ministry of Energy aimed at increasing electricity generation, the reconstruction of outdated hydro units at various hydroelectric stations is being carried out.

Currently, preparations are underway for the installation of a new hydro unit, with the main equipment already partially delivered to the station's warehouse.

As of today, 47.3% of the equipment for hydro unit No. 2 has been delivered as part of the project work, and some of the systems have already been fully assembled.

Active dismantling work is being conducted at the station, particularly the dismantling of the turbine's runner chamber on hydro unit No. 2.

Simultaneously, preparations are underway for the dismantling of the turbine shaft on hydro unit No. 1, as well as the removal of auxiliary equipment and 10.5 kV busbars.

All dismantled elements are being transported to the hydroelectric power station's warehouses, and more than 80 specialists have been involved in the project.

It is worth noting that the modernization of the hydro units at the Uch-Kurgan Hydroelectric Power Station began in 2024.

Previously, hydro units No. 3 and No. 4 were successfully upgraded and put into operation.

Currently, the reconstruction of hydro units No. 1 and No. 2 is underway and is expected to be completed by the end of this year.

After the modernization of the two units is completed, the station's capacity will increase from 198 to 216 MW, significantly extending the service life of the main equipment.
