- As part of the preparations for the opening of the Balykchy—Kochkor railway, scheduled for the end of August 2026, the Deputy Director of the state enterprise Kyrgyz Temir Zholu, Dastan Usubakunov, shared information on the radio.

The length of the new railway line will be 63.8 km, with Kochkor being the final station, which is currently in the design and construction phase.

Currently, work is actively underway on the section between 44 and 63 kilometers, as well as in the area where the future station will be located. About 60 workers and 25 units of equipment are involved in the construction.

The head of the Capital Construction Department of Kyrgyz Temir Zholu, Ryskulbek Jumabaev, added that the main efforts are focused on the section stretching 25 km, which runs from the Sary-Chaty area to the village of Tendik. The upper part of the track has already reached the Kochkor Valley, bypassing Sary-Chaty, and trains are currently delivering cargo to this point.

The railway will continue its route from the Kochkor station to Kara-Keche.

According to Usubakunov, this is only the first stage of the project. Further plans include the construction of the Kochkor — Kara-Keche line, and in the third stage, a connection in Makmal with the China — Kyrgyzstan — Uzbekistan railway is planned, which will create a transport corridor "North — South".
