Airbus may help Kyrgyzstan exit the EU blacklist – Zaparov met with the head of the company
President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov held a meeting with Johan Pelissier, President of Airbus Europe, and Maurice Prendergast, Senior Vice President of BBAM Leasing, on March 5.
During the meeting with Airbus representatives, further steps for expanding the country's fleet and strengthening cooperation in civil aviation were discussed.
The President emphasized the importance of establishing mutually beneficial relations with Airbus Europe, which was reflected in the signing of a new agreement.
“This is important for the development of our civil aviation, increasing the reliability of transportation and flight safety,” Japarov added, highlighting the dynamic development of Kyrgyzstan's aviation sector.
During the conversation, he also noted plans for modernizing airports, expanding regional routes, and ensuring that the aviation system meets international standards. While there were previously 4 airports operating in the country, today there are 11, and the construction of an international airport in Jalal-Abad is ongoing.
Additionally, the president reported that Kyrgyzstan is close to exiting the European Union's blacklist for aviation safety, with the last audit scheduled for this month.
In this regard, Japarov suggested that the company representatives discuss the possibility of assistance in this process.
For his part, Johan Pelissier expressed high appreciation for the successes achieved in Kyrgyzstan's aviation sector, noting the ongoing efforts to modernize and enhance safety standards.
He also expressed interest in strengthening long-term cooperation not only in commercial aviation but also in other areas, including transport and logistics.
“We are pleased to learn that Kyrgyzstan is in the final stages of the EU audit and are ready to provide support in this matter,” Pelissier added.
Maurice Prendergast, for his part, noted that the new aircraft being acquired by Kyrgyzstan fully comply with international standards. He also announced the arrival of specialists to assist colleagues from Kyrgyzstan in mastering new technical systems.
As a result of the meeting, the parties confirmed their readiness for further cooperation, which will be mutually beneficial and fruitful.
