OAO "Chakan HPP" has signed a contract with China National Heavy Machinery Corporation (CHMC), which will act as the general contractor for the reconstruction of the Lebedinovskaya HPP. Currently, the contracting organization has begun work on the design and estimate documentation.
The reconstruction aims to modernize the equipment, which will increase productivity and extend the station's lifespan. These works will significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of the Lebedinovskaya HPP:
- increasing the installed capacity from 7.6 MW to 10.0 MW;
- growth of annual electricity generation from 37.2 million kWh to 53.5 million kWh;
- enhancing the reliability of the hydroelectric power station.
It is worth noting that the Lebedinovskaya HPP is one of the oldest operating hydroelectric power stations in the Chui region. Its construction began in May 1942, during the height of the Great Patriotic War. The main work was carried out in harsh winter conditions, when more than seven thousand women and children manually dug frozen soil, dragged it across the ice, and worked in icy water, pumping out up to 200 cubic meters of groundwater daily to ensure the stability of the foundation.
The construction took only one year and two weeks. In 1943, the city of Frunze (now Bishkek) began receiving the necessary electricity, which made it possible to launch evacuated factories that supplied the front.
