A temporary ban on the export of used catalysts has been introduced in Kyrgyzstan.
The ban is aimed at protecting the health and lives of citizens, as well as safeguarding the environment, including flora and fauna, by reducing air pollution from vehicle exhaust.
The catalyst, which is an important part of a vehicle's exhaust system, accounts for about 13% of the total cost of the vehicle. As a result, there has been an increase in cases of theft and voluntary removal of catalysts from cars for subsequent resale, which brings significant profits to the perpetrators.
