On February 13, the President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, met with the Prime Minister of Tajikistan, Kohir Rasulzoda, who arrived in the country on a working visit.
During the negotiations, the parties discussed important aspects of bilateral relations.
Sadyr Japarov, welcoming his interlocutor, emphasized that Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the further development of cooperation with Tajikistan, based on mutual respect and consideration of each other's interests.
“We, together with the President of Tajikistan, have reached a common understanding on the main areas of our interaction and outlined key guidelines for the future,” he noted.
An important step in this direction was the first meeting of the Kyrgyz-Tajik Intergovernmental Council, which was successful and will serve as a foundation for effectively addressing the tasks set.
In addition, the president emphasized the need for joint efforts to combat transnational threats such as terrorism, organized crime, and drug trafficking.
In this regard, he highlighted the importance of cooperation within the framework of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), particularly the establishment of an Anti-Drug Center in Dushanbe and a Center for Combating International Organized Crime in Bishkek.

In response, Kohir Rasulzoda expressed sincere gratitude for the warm welcome and traditional hospitality extended to their delegation.
He conveyed greetings and best wishes from the President of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon.
The Prime Minister noted that strengthening good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan is an important task of Tajikistan's foreign policy.

He also noted that Kyrgyzstan's economic successes are among the highest in the region.
“Your trusting dialogue with the President of Tajikistan and political will have contributed to our relations reaching a new level. The signing of the State Border Agreement was a historic moment that laid a solid foundation for eternal friendship and trust,” emphasized the Prime Minister.

He expressed hope that the results of the Prime Minister's visit and the joint work of the governments would contribute to the sustainable and fruitful development of bilateral relations for the benefit of both peoples.
