According to the agency, the capacity of the new hydropower station will be 100 MW, and the annual electricity generation will reach approximately 435 million kWh. This will help reduce the energy deficit in the country by nearly 11%.
“The implementation of this project will strengthen Kyrgyzstan's position in the regional electricity market, create new jobs in the Naryn region, and allow for the expansion of irrigated land, which will contribute to the development of agriculture and improve the living conditions of the local population,” the statement noted.

It is expected that the construction of the "Kulanak" hydropower station will be completed in the third quarter of 2027, according to the action plan developed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
- The project is being implemented by the company OsOO "Production Enterprise Naryn" in cooperation with the Ministry of Energy.
- The hydropower station will be located at the confluence of the At-Bashy and Naryn rivers and will be a diversion station.
