In Almaty, an informal meeting took place where the granddaughter of the famous writer Chyngyz Aitmatov, Chinara, presented the medal of the Issyk-Kul Forum to Olzhas Suleimenov, a Kazakh poet and public figure, who is celebrating his 90th anniversary this year.
Historian Zainidin Kurmanov, who attended the event, characterized it as “a meeting of two literary universes,” emphasizing the significant contributions of both authors to the promotion of humanitarian ideals, as well as their ability to unite literature, science, politics, and peacekeeping efforts.
Chinara highlighted the importance of Olzhas Omarovich's work, which, according to Kurmanov, demonstrated that the development of civilizations is not just a series of isolated events, but a complex intertwining of languages and ideas. This perspective allows for a deeper understanding of the formation of the multifaceted identity of the peoples of Eurasia.
Kurmanov also reported that he initiated Suleimenov's nomination for an international award. “I conveyed through Chinara a copy of my recommendation for O.O. Suleimenov to the Nobel Committee, as well as two books: my monograph 'The First,' dedicated to the 130th anniversary of the father of Kyrgyz statehood Imanalay Aydarbekov, and the memoirs of my father, Professor Karpak Kurmanov, about Kyrgyz-Kazakh brotherhood,” the historian added.
