- The Eurasian Economic Commission commented on the issues related to the overload of freight transport at certain border points between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan.

According to information from the Republic of Kazakhstan, the increase in the time required for border control is associated with the implementation of planned control measures.

“These measures are targeted and temporary. They are aimed at organizing the situation at the border, including combating the illegal turnover of goods, which poses a threat to national security,” the EEC stated.

Kazakhstan expressed hope for understanding from Kyrgyzstan and further cooperation to prevent illegal actions that cause significant harm to the economies of both countries and their international reputation,” the statement noted.

The EEC, referring to the official statement from Kazakhstan, emphasized that such measures fall within the national competence of the member states of the Eurasian Economic Union and do not affect the process of Eurasian integration.

At the same time, the legal framework of the EEU provides for the cancellation of customs, transport, sanitary, veterinary, and quarantine phytosanitary controls between member states, except in cases provided for by the EEU legislation.
