The situation with the accumulation of freight transport at certain border crossing points between Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan has been commented on by the Eurasian Economic Commission. In an official statement, it was noted that the delays are caused by planned control measures being implemented by the Kazakh side.

According to representatives of Kazakhstan, these intensified checks are temporary and targeted, aimed at organizing the situation at the border, primarily to combat the illegal circulation of goods, which poses a threat to national security.

Kazakhstan emphasizes the importance of good-neighborly relations with Kyrgyzstan, considering it a strategic partner and ally. The government hopes for understanding from the Kyrgyz side and the continuation of cooperation in combating illegal activities that could harm the economies of both states and their international reputation.

The EEC noted that the measures being implemented are strictly an internal matter for the EAEU member states and do not affect the integration processes within the union. Mutual trade within the Union is conducted without customs, transport, sanitary, veterinary, and quarantine-phytosanitary control, except in cases provided for by EAEU legislation.

The Commission also emphasized that combating the shadow circulation of goods remains a priority task. To reduce risks and minimize the need for additional checks, mechanisms for navigation seals, tracking, and labeling of goods are being implemented, and efforts are being made to improve the quality of customs control.
