Issues of irrigation and future investments in this sector became the main topic of a recent meeting of Bakyt Torobaev, Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry. The negotiations were held with leaders of international financial institutions operating in Kyrgyzstan, as well as with representatives of the diplomatic corps.
During the discussion, the parties emphasized the global challenges facing the country's water and irrigation sectors, identified investment needs and potential areas for cooperation, and developed specific approaches to addressing pressing issues.

Moreover, it was notably highlighted that thanks to cooperation with international partners, modern methods of water resource management have been implemented, water accounting digitization has improved, and the resilience of water infrastructure to climate change has increased, which in turn has contributed to the improvement of water supply for irrigated lands.

The meeting also reviewed current water management projects being implemented with the World Bank, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development, Asian Development Bank, Islamic Development Bank, and other international partners.

Overall, it was noted that the successful implementation of water projects will not only improve access to water supply and irrigation but will also have a positive impact on the socio-economic development of the country.
