In Kyrgyzstan, there are nearly 2 million cars
Mashiev also noted that out of the total number of vehicles, 972 thousand run on gasoline, 339 thousand on diesel fuel, 56 thousand on gas, and 37 thousand are hybrid models.
According to the minister, since the beginning of 2025, 15,278 electric vehicles have been imported into the country, which accounts for 0.8% of the total number of cars. This year, the share of vehicles less than five years old increased from 1.5% in 2024 to 4.5%.
In Bishkek, the public vehicle fleet includes 1,447 gas buses, 120 electric buses, and 12 standard 12-meter buses. More than 100 charging stations for electric vehicles have also been installed, the minister added.
Speaking about the causes of smog in Bishkek, Mashiev highlighted the following factors:
▪️Coal burning in the private sector – 40%
▪️Old vehicles – 30%
▪️CHPs and boiler houses – 15%
▪️Dust storms – 13.5%
▪️Emissions from industrial enterprises – 1.5%
He also noted that over the past two years, air quality in the city has improved, largely due to the gasification process.
Mashiev reported that interest rates on preferential loans for gasification have been reduced from 8% to 3%, and 150 million soms are allocated annually from the budget for the implementation of this program. In Bishkek, 54 residential areas have been gasified, and last year, 36 thousand new subscribers were connected.
Additionally, the minister added that coal consumption decreased by 100 thousand tons last year; however, approximately 97 thousand households continue to use it.
