Electric vehicles in the Kyrgyz Republic make up only 0.8 percent of the total number of cars.
In Kyrgyzstan, nearly 1 million 909 thousand 961 vehicles are registered.
“Compared to 2024, there has been a 13% increase in the number of cars, which raises certain concerns. Out of the total number, 972 thousand vehicles run on gasoline, 339 thousand on diesel, 56.9 thousand on gas and gasoline, and 37 thousand are hybrids. However, only 15.2 thousand vehicles, or 0.8% of the total, are electric cars,” the minister added.
Mashiev noted that exhaust gases are one of the main causes of smog in cities.
“Currently, we are working on transitioning to environmentally friendly transport. In Bishkek, 1,447 gas eco-buses, 120 electric buses, and 12-meter eco-buses have already been implemented. Each of these buses replaces four diesel vehicles and reduces diesel fuel consumption by 100 tons per day. Additionally, there are over 100 electric charging stations operating in the city, and more than 2,000 applications for opening new ones are currently being considered,” he concluded.
