The Customs Service explained how navigation seals for cargo transportation work
According to Petrukhin, these devices function as "smart" seals and significantly differ from conventional mechanical locks. They are equipped with batteries, automatic locking mechanisms, and data transmission systems. These seals record parameters such as the vehicle's location, its speed, as well as emergency situations, including attempts to tamper, damage to the device, deviations from the established route, and loss of communication.
The introduction of navigation seals in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU) aims to create a "green corridor" for cargo transportation. This allows regulatory authorities to gain online access to data about the movement of trucks, which, in turn, reduces the number of necessary inspections. A company representative noted that such a system could reduce smuggling risks and expedite the cargo delivery process.
One of the main advantages for participants in foreign economic activity will be the reduction of waiting time at borders and an increase in transportation speed.
Petrukhin also clarified that the tariffs for using navigation seals consist of three components: the cost of installing the device, tracking within the transit territory, and removing the seal at the destination. In international transportation, the national operator of the country of departure charges for the entire route upfront, including the services of operators in transit countries and the destination country. These tariffs are approved by the national operators of EAEU countries and published on their official websites.
