- The purpose of this agreement is to prevent pandemics, ensure the resilience of food systems, and preserve the health of ecosystems in Central Asia. It was signed between the Kyrgyz Republic and the International Development Association/International Bank for Reconstruction and Development on July 11, 2025, in Bishkek.
The initiator of the draft law was the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers.
Deputy Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing Zhanibek Kerimaliev emphasized that the project aims to improve the health of the population and animals, as well as to protect the environment in the country.
He also noted that Phase 1 includes three main components focused on combating zoonotic infections, preventing antimicrobial resistance, and ensuring food safety.
For the implementation of the project "Phase 1 for the Kyrgyz Republic under the 'One Health' Program," the Financing Agreement provides for the allocation of 30 million US dollars in the form of a loan and 1.79 million dollars in the form of a grant. The loan funds will be provided for 50 years with a ten-year grace period and a zero interest rate.
