At the meeting, the focus was on the construction project of the Kambar-Ata HPP-1.
The World Bank expressed its readiness to continue financial support for this project, emphasizing the importance of adhering to environmental and social standards, as well as international norms for sustainable development.
In addition, other projects were discussed, including:
- The "Regional Integration and Electricity Trade Program in Central Asia (REMIT)" project, aimed at strengthening electrical networks in the Jalal-Abad region, expanding regional electricity trade, and enhancing the reliability of energy infrastructure in Central Asia.
- The parties confirmed their intention for open and constructive cooperation aimed at the sustainable development of the energy sector and the implementation of major infrastructure projects.
The bilateral meeting was attended by Minister of Energy T. Ibraev, representatives of energy companies, as well as Najy Benhassine — the Regional Director of the World Bank for Central Asia, Hugh Riddell — head of the World Bank office in the Kyrgyz Republic, Stephanie Gil-Praktikis - energy and mining sector manager for Europe and Central Asia, and other bank representatives.
