City Hall: Of 105 residential areas, only half are gasified, priority villages are Novopavlovka and Novopokrovka

On January 16, 2026, the mayor of Bishkek, Aybek Junushaliev, held a joint off-site meeting of the parliamentary groups of the Jogorku Kenesh "Mekentchil" and "Ata-Jurt," where he reported that only 54 out of 105 residential areas in the capital and its surroundings are supplied with gas.

“We are also interested in accelerating the process of gasification of settlements. It would be wonderful if Gazprom speeds up its work,” the mayor added.

He highlighted the villages of Novopavlovka and Novopokrovka as priorities for gasification, explaining that various types of fuel are used for heating in these settlements, which negatively affects air quality in Bishkek.

In addition, Junushaliev noted that two residential areas are located right at the entrance to the city: one from the west and the other from the east.

The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the problem of smog in Bishkek, as well as to find solutions and implement measures to improve the state of atmospheric air.
