"This year, the construction sector will grow by 20%," - economist

According to statements by economist Nasirdin Shamshiev, it is expected that the industrial sector of the country will grow by at least 7.5% in 2026, while construction is projected to increase by 20%. This was announced on the radio.

Shamshiev also reported on planned projects for the creation of water intakes and reservoirs, within which 120 facilities are expected to be built. These measures will allow Kyrgyzstan to fully ensure its water resources.

In addition, there are plans to complete the construction of an alternative North-South route, which should reduce the load on the Osh-Bishkek highway. The modernization of the railway fleet is also ongoing.

The economist emphasized that domestic demand is the main driver of economic growth. He noted: "The more money the population has, the more active consumption becomes. Domestic demand should increase by at least 4.5%." Shamshiev added that special attention will be paid to small and medium-sized businesses, which already account for 51% of the gross domestic product. To support entrepreneurs, loans with low interest rates and interest-free programs are provided, as well as funding for agriculture.

“These initiatives have already allowed 20,000 entrepreneurs to receive more than 12 billion soms and create about 21,000 jobs,” he concluded.
