The Ministry of Energy expects a 30% reduction in the purchase tariff for electricity from renewable energy power plants with the implementation of the auction.
According to current legislation, any electricity produced using RES that is not used by the installation owner for their own needs or not sold to other consumers must be purchased by the electricity company designated by the Ministry of Energy.
Currently, the tariff at which the state purchases electricity from RES is 4.42 soms per kilowatt-hour.
In its analysis, the Ministry of Energy indicates that the implementation of an auction mechanism could help reduce this tariff, citing the successful experience of Kazakhstan, where a similar 30% reduction was achieved.
Thus, the ministry suggests that the new tariff could be 3.09 soms per kilowatt-hour.
