- In 2025, Kazakhstan will commission 503 megawatts of installed capacity from renewable energy sources, according to data published on January 6 by the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

This increase in capacity is associated with nine new renewable energy facilities, including: five wind power plants with a total capacity of 387 MW, three solar power plants with 90 MW, and one hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 26 MW.

As of today, there are 162 renewable energy facilities operating in Kazakhstan, which together provide 3.5 gigawatts of installed capacity. These include 67 wind, 49 solar, 43 hydroelectric power stations, and three biogas power plants.

As part of the long-term plan until 2035, the country aims to implement more than 8 gigawatts of new capacity from renewable energy sources.
