The Minister of Construction, Architecture, and Housing and Communal Services of Kyrgyzstan, Nurdana Oruntaev, familiarized himself with the progress of the construction of wastewater treatment facilities in the city of Cholpon-Ata, Issyk-Kul region.

The project is being implemented as part of the initiative "Environmental Management of Lake Issyk-Kul and Sustainable Tourism Development," reports the Ministry of Construction.

The minister inspected the site from the main construction elements to the pumping stations being built and emphasized the need for strict adherence to deadlines and ensuring high quality of the work performed.

The construction began in July 2025 and is being carried out by the companies “China Road” and “Alkatash.” According to the project, reinforcement work is underway for the construction of a new sewage treatment station with a capacity of 14,200 cubic meters per day. Earthworks for 12 pumping stations have been fully completed, and construction has moved to the next stage.

After the project is completed, the centralized sewage system will be 100% connected to the city of Cholpon-Ata, the villages of Bosteri, Baktyu-Dolonotu, and Kara-Oy, as well as all boarding houses, guest houses, and other facilities located in their territory. Currently, only 30-40% of the population of Cholpon-Ata is connected to the sewage system.

The completion of construction works is planned by the end of 2027.
