Import of Technical Goods in Kyrgyzstan
According to the report, the import of ferrous metals increased by 2.3 times, amounting to $79.7 million. There was also a 45.8 percent increase in the supply of electrical machines and equipment. The main suppliers were companies from Russia and China.
The market for non-food goods shows mixed dynamics. Exports of equipment and mechanical devices grew by 54.3 percent, reaching $9.8 million, while the supply of measuring and control instruments fell by 4.5 times, and leather products decreased in volume by 2.7 times.
Additionally, pharmaceutical products showed significant growth, with import volumes amounting to $20.9 million, which is 18.1 percent higher than last year.
Key Positions of Non-Food Imports:
Export of Goods from Kyrgyzstan
In January 2026, the export of ferrous metals from Kyrgyzstan increased by 2.5 times, while imports grew by 2.3 times. This indicates an active redistribution of resources and re-export schemes within the EAEU.
However, the 21.2 percent decrease in clothing exports indicates problems in the garment industry, which is an important source of jobs for women.
Key Positions of Non-Food Exports:
The foreign trade turnover of Kyrgyzstan in the first month of this year amounted to $1 billion 52.9 million, with 87.7 percent accounted for by imports and only 12.3 percent by exports. The negative balance of $799.3 million highlights the high dependence of the republic on imports in the technical and industrial sectors.
