- A program aimed at improving livestock quality through artificial insemination and the development of breeding farms is being implemented in Kyrgyzstan. This information was shared on the air by the head of the department for the development of breeding livestock, feed, and the introduction of biotechnology in animal husbandry of the Veterinary Service under the Ministry of Agriculture, Myktybek Kalandarov.

Kalandarov noted that in 2025, 60 million soms were allocated from the country's budget for these purposes. With this funding, 270,000 doses of semen were purchased, which were then distributed free of charge to insemination technicians through regional veterinary offices.

In addition to this, the government provided 160 sets of equipment and liquid nitrogen for the storage of semen. The implementation of the program began in September 2025.

"So far, more than 12,500 artificial insemination procedures for cows have been performed," he added.

According to Kalandarov, when selecting semen, breeds that are most suitable for the climatic conditions in Kyrgyzstan were taken into account.

Farmers can take advantage of this program by contacting insemination technicians in their villages through regional veterinary offices. "The cost of the service is about 1,000 to 1,500 soms, while a purebred calf on the market can cost from 60,000 soms and above," Kalandarov noted.

Moreover, there is a preferential lending program in the country to support livestock breeders. Farmers can obtain loans at an annual interest rate of 3% for the purchase of breeding livestock or for fattening animals.
