In Chui Region, the condition of reservoirs and irrigation infrastructure was checked, - Ministry of Agriculture
The main goal of the visit was to study the current state of water management facilities and to assess the progress of construction and repair works. Additionally, the minister familiarized himself with measures aimed at providing farmers with irrigation water.
During the trip in the Moscow district, the minister inspected the Spartak Reservoir and the Ak-Sui distribution drainage system. The managers of these facilities provided reports on the technical condition of the structures, their level of siltation, and overall efficiency of use.
Akunbekov also visited the Kara-Balta and Stepninsk reservoirs in the Jayil district, which play a key role in supplying water to thousands of hectares of irrigated land.
During the visit, it was noted that many water bodies had not been cleaned for 50 years, which negatively affected their design capacity. For example, one reservoir designed for 4.3 million cubic meters currently holds only about 2 million cubic meters, providing irrigation for only 2,100 hectares. Additional water volumes come from the Big Chui Canal and the Kara-Balta River.
Following the trip, the minister issued instructions for the modernization of the irrigation system, phased cleaning and reconstruction of reservoirs, as well as for improving the efficiency of water resource use.
